Why is not the price of Google shares much higher, given that never separated and has a market capitalization of over $ 155B?
If you look at the stocks of other great (especially in technology) in the last decade or so, with large capitalization market, all returns are at least 1500% or 2000% or more. Google had an IPO price of 85, but opened some 100 on your first day a little more 2 years. Today is about $ 500, which would total 400% return, if you bought on your first day of public trading …. and even if you are fortunate enough to obtain the allocation of IPOs, there would only be a return of 500%. Most other companies this size, such as Microsoft, Dell, Starbucks or even have had a total return 4, 5, 6 times greater than Google. What?
This is because Google IPO'd after the company was already a very high market capitalization ($ 26 million). A 6-fold increase of 26 billion U.S. dollars in just 2 years is truly phenomenal.
